Software Issues, Installation and Troubleshooting
If you have a Windows based computer, you will at some point run into a software program that isn’t performing the way it should. Maybe its freezing up, causing a blue screen or some other software issue but you need to get this fixed. That’s where we come in. Our software techs can look at the issue, using software troubleshooting techniques to help figure out a way to fix the problem. Sometimes it requires backing up the data and performing a software installation to fix the issue, while other times it may require some registry editing or possibly some system file installs to fix a software problem.
Windows 98 and 2000 should not be used anymore as they are way outdated and cause security risks for your personal data. If your are still using these operating system, you should upgrade to at least Windows XP immediately. Microsoft is still supporting XP, but not for long. Avoid Windows Vista at all costs and go straight to Windows 7 if you can. Win 7 can take a bit of time to get used to but it is by far the most reliable and secure of the Windows operating systems.
Office Suites – The Good and the Free
Microsoft makes a great Office program which includes a word processor, spreadsheet, database, email program, and others but the cost for this suite can get really expensive. If you are on a budget, but need to do word processing and spreadsheets, I would go with Open Office. It’s a free Office Suite that can be found at www.openoffice.org and it works just as well as the $250 Microsoft Office. You don’t get an email program like Outlook, but you can still use Windows Live Mail (free program) in place of Outlook.
Free Software that works!
Below are 4 programs that can help keep your pc running smooth:
- CCleaner – Cleans temp, cleans registry, shows programs list and startup
- Avast – Anti-Virus – Excellent FREE Anti-Virus program
- Malwarebytes – This is the only Malware program I trust
- Defraggler – Just a step ahead of the Window Defragmenting program
